Pip has been chewing wood like crazy these days! When he flies into the living room, he's on a mission to find some good woodwork to chew up and he'll find it within seconds of entering the room! Windowsills are a favorite, but any woodwork will do! He has plenty of wood to chew in the bird room so he doesn't chew the windowsills in there, which is good, but if you don't keep an eye on him, he's in the living room chewing the windowsills in a split second! I give him some wooden popsicle sticks to chew up now when he's in the living room........

He's such a determined little stinker to find wood to chew....has anyone else's lovie ever been like this? Isn't this more of a female behavior that he's so determined to shred wood up like this? Or is this probably just my lil monster trying to keep me on my toes!

Looks like it's time for you to open up a toothpick factory! My boys LOVE to tear wood up like that so it's not just the girls that do it.

I have a very determined wood chewer as well! No trim or basket is safe in this house. So what I do is go and buy little wooden shapes from the craft store, pumpkins, teddy bears, snowmen, hearts, etc that are meant to be painted and glued on to things. Then I clip those in his cage and put them in baskets that I don't mind him chewing (keep other baskets that I do mind him chewing in rooms that he can't get to).
The floor is always littered with little toothpicks and woodshavings. LOL
Recently hubby went around and touched up the spots where Oreo put his signature because we had our house appraised for refinancing. There were a lot of spots! And before long Oreo decided that he didn't like the new look so he put more beak marks on our trim LOL Hubby wasn't very happy.
Awww! Pip is so cute  Since we rent this place, I am most relieved that Frodo hasn't shown any inclination to chew the woodwork...(knock on..er...wood.... ) She's more of a book destroyer than anything else, although the odd bit of fabric is also on her list of things to shred (especially anything I've put time into sewing or knitting...little monster!).

I buy alot of thick wooden ladders.....the wood has to be thick or it won't last very long, these are the ladders I get...

I use to get bendy, more colorful ones, but they got destroyed so fast so I stick with these because the wood is thicker and they aren't too expensive. I put the ladders between the cages going across and those are good for keeping Pip busy chewing that instead of the woodwork in the bird room.
I'm glad to see that the boys like to tear things up too. It's amazing the differences between Pip and Rudy.....Rudy is so well behaved and never gets into anything when he's out, but that Pip boy, always up to something!

Cabo, Skye and Kenya all make short work of their balsa sticks. When Skye's gets all torn up into tiny pieces and there is nothing left to chew she will yell "she DESTROYED it!" LOL
