Hey All,

I've had my new lovebird Sly for a couple weeks now, and he is settling in very nicely.
He's a biter but we're working on that and he and my older lovebird Kiwi get along pretty well so far. (fingers crossed)
When Sly takes a nap during the day, regardless of where he is, on a perch or his sleepy tent, he's constantly chattering & chirping. It's the cutest thing but it's not something Kiwi has ever done...so it strikes me as odd. He doesn't do it at night, just daytime naps.
I'm sure this is probably normal but I thought I'd ask and see if others have experienced the same thing.
I tried to catch him doing it on video but he caught me! :)
Thanks
Jo

Yep, it's normal. Sometimes Ditto is noisier when he's napping then when he's awake.

I have several now, 5 of the greeney blue colour with the white face, and one more lime green with the coloured face and throat and a more pronounced eyering ("Peaches"). Peaches is noiser by herself that all of the others put together. She screeches and chatters and generally hypes the rest of them up. Is that a breed thing, or just the nature of the bird?

From what I know it's a defensive mechanism when they take nap during the day to bob their heads and chirp to let predators know that they are still 'awake'. They dont do this when they sleep at night
