Today I had to clean out Icetalons cage, she got on my arm and I sat down on my bed with her and did what I always try to do. I took my finger and tried to pet her. She would always back away from me or even try to bite my finger, she has never been big on me touching her but she would always love to be taken out of her cage. But today as I reached my finger out toward her, she didn't move she let me pet her :omg: ! I started on her back then moved up to her head, and she didn't seem to mind, she seemed to have enjoyed it :clap ! It only took me one year...

That IS wonderful news!!!! You probably have not pushed the issue and Icetalon learned through experience that you will not hurt her. A trust relationship is awesome and it must be earned. Once it's in place, there's no feeling quite like it in the world! :clap

For the first time this morning I was not angry at her for waking me up at 7:00 am! I just took her out of her cage as I did my morning chores, but for a change she stayed on my shoulder the whole time, she didn't fly towards (her) couch! She even let me pet her head again! I just have one question, how to lovebirds give kisses? Do you have to teach them? Or is it more like dogs give kisses?

Wow, congrats! I've had Pip now for three years and I still can't touch him like that! but that's just Pip.....he doesn't like hands much, but he still is just as tame as can be! I can pick him up and hold him in my hands and kiss his head and pet him that way and he'll sit in my hands and not seem to mind at all.....for a little while! but I have to catch him to do that, so I save it for when I have to get him to put him back in his cage most of the time. It's so funny, I can be holding him and take him in another room and he'll sit there all content, but as I walk closer to his cage, I get more and more nips and they get harder the closer I get to his cage! :rotfl:rofl:

congratulations! how exciting. i remember when joey flew to me and would let me pet him and give him head rubs. kissing? i dunno, i just offer my lips for a kiss. i never offer a wet kiss. some birds don't do the kissing very well (as in, they bite more than kiss). i only trust 3 birds to be near my lips (joey, jada, and evie). the others just don't realize how powerful their beaks are. i can tell they want to do what joey is doing so they try it, but it ends up a bite rather than a kiss.

Well I think I have officaly have Icetalon's trust! Last night I opened her cage door and I layed down on my bed, and then she flew right toward me and landed right on my arm! She sat on my arm for about 10 mins as I was petting her head. Then she got off my arm and went towards the bend of my arm and leaned on it, and she flew asleep as I was petting her chest!

yay!!!!!!!!! LOL. it must be something in the air cuz one of my birds, chomper, is really starting to trust me now (and it's been a year for me too). he won't kiss me or hop onto my hand, but he'll step up onto my wrist and forearm w/o me luring him w/ treats. you are much further along than i am. how exciting for you :) more pictures please!!! aren't they sweet when they fall asleep on you? joey finally napped underneath my chin today, which he hasn't done in over a year. i was so happy.

Dr. Bob is in the Avian & Exotic Medical Center, you probably saw the other Dr, I can't remember the name. Next time you go, try to see Dr. Bob, he is pretty cool. Also, the assistant Cathy, she is very good too. She always makes a big fuss when I bring my lovebird in. She'll call people into the room so she can show them how tame my lovie is. We like all the attention.
I know Deerpark very well. I used to work in Blue Ash, and of course, Kenwood Mall is Great!
I live in Mason.

She runs a boarding facility from her home, sells all kinds of bird accessories, and does breeding as well. I affectionately refer to her as the "bird lady"
She is great with birds and organizes alot of the bird meetings in the area.
Also, she does custom food orders from Goldenfeast. http://www.goldenfeastfoods.com/online/
They have high quality mixes for different species. I order alot of my food from her.
My Conure loves the goldfeast but my Lovie still prefer's his plain seed and fresh veggies.
I hope you don't mind me passing all this information along. Just saw that you lived in the area and wanted to make sure you aware of the great support we have for Bird lovers in Cincinnati. :)

Icetalon, very cool Name.
My lovie's been a single bird for almost 7 years now and personally, I'm glad I kept him single since he really formed a strong bond with me.
You will probably get different opinions from different people but in the end, as long as our lovie is happy, that's all that matters.
Here are some pics of Rico from a few thanksgivings ago. He loves Turkey and Eggs, quite the cannibal.
