hi all. i have had my 4 love birds for a month now, i love them soo much...all were from an aviary at my local bird store, they are very healthy and active and will play all day with there toys , and they do seem to like each other ,i have 2 black masked blue lovies and 2 fishers together i know people sugest keeping them appart but they are all male and they dont fight or get cross with each other which is great but sit and snuggle each other all the time, i have plenty of toys and stuff for themt o do but the one thing i dont have is they are fine if i sit in the room next to there cage but the minute i put my hand in there cage they get scared and go nuts, flapping around and squaking at me and then cling to the other side of tehre cage away from me, how do i get them to calm down if they are frightend of me and wont even take food from me ..let alone go near me or step up, i am slow moving when around them but it makes no diffrece. they werent hand reared..do i have no chance of taming....

One bird for one heart.

I don't know much about taming because it was never really a big problem for me but I will tell you all I know.

1.) Try sitting by the cage and talking/reading to your lovies to help get them used to you. Do this for about 15mins a day for a couple of days.
2.) Start sticking your fingers into the cage, and maybe offering them some food to associate you with good things. Do this a couple times a day for a couple days.
3.) Once they are comfy with your fingers in the cage try sticking your whole hand into the cage and giving them snacks.
4.) Once they are comfy with your hand in the cage try getting them to step up onto you.
