for 2 lovies to become friendly...how long does it usually take for 2 lovies to get friendly?
Do they get connected right away or it takes time?
How they usually act towards each other first few days?
Could they ever act like they don't like each other and then start being friendly or do they always start as friends at the start?
If you have any experiences with your birds, share!

Every bird is different. They are like people in that they all have their own little personalities, likes and dislikes, so there is never any guarantee that they will get along or like each other. Some love each other, some hate each other, and some fall somewhere in between. I have two lovies. Pip I've had now for three years, while Rudy only one. These two act alot like they should like each other and I think in some ways they do, BUT if they get too close to each other, they bite each other! They can be out together and are ok, as long as they don't get too close! Pip lands on Rudy's cage all the time and most times Rudy just sits there and doesn't care.....or he'll try to get closer to him, then Pip will fly away thinking he's going to get bitten! they also contact call to each other and chirp back and forth to each other like they are having their own little lovie conversation! It seems like they should like each other, but they don't really get along and it's been a year now. I really don't have any complaints though because it doesn't seem like they dislike each other to me and anybirdy can land on Rudy's cage while he's in it and he won't bite through the cage bars, so he's ok to leave with birds who are out and no feet will get bitten! He's a pretty good boy, that Rudy....he even goes back in his cage for me.....he's alot better behaved than Pip ever was!!!

Kim (Pips mom) is right on. .."Every bird is different". ... Here's a little twist. .. My two males, Goofy and B.B., are really quite the odd couple. .. Beebers has always appeared more than willing to form a bond with Goof. .. Unfortunately, Goof (who was here first), apparently doesn't think thats such a great idea. .. This is obvious, in that Goof constantly chases Beeb's away, steals Beeber's food, bathes in Beeber's water bowl, and is sometimes just flat out obnoxious. .. Beeber's, on the other hand, although quite capable of ripping Goof an new ***, gleefully puts up with every last bit of Goof's torment. ... Now here's the catch....Take ME out of the picture, and you will find these two feeding each other, sharing a food bowl, happily sitting side by side chirping away as if they were some sort of tag team. ..Enter me, even for a sneak photo, and its instant jealousy. ... You know, i've tried to get rid of myself just so they'd get along. .. Any suggestions? ...... Uh..never mind.

well, when i brought evolet home, joey was all over her and they were best friends. he followed her around, preened her constantly, he was very happy to have another birdy friend since he was alone and lonely all day. haha, she found him annoying at times and would just go hide from him, but joey didn't care. if he couldn't hang out w/ her, he'd hang out w/ me.
when i brought pan home, poor thing, he was attacked and picked on all the time by joey and evie. over time though, joey and pan became friends though not as close as joey and evie. after i moved, things started to change. evie became more more nice to pan and they began to like each other. soon they were inseparable and now they are mates. that was a long progress, several months. when i brought chomper home, pan and joey were friendly to him, but not super friendly. they were curious about him and would preen him and be preened by him. those two would fight over who could shower chomper w/ love, but after that, they were off doing their own thing and chomper would be by himself. now chomper, he didn't have a friend til i got hermes. chomper didn't like her at their first meeting, but after that, they were best friends.
after evie and pan hooked up, joey was the third wheel and they no longer liked him. i think joey was a bit confused since he was friendly w/ both birds, but he got the hint after awhile and he would fight them back.
long story short, every bird is different. out of all my birds, joey is the only one that has been friends or on friendly terms w/ all the birds (minus the parrotlet) at some point in time before they decided they liked another bird more.

Same here! Blue sits on the cage, but if he get's close close,Cookie will bite his foot...But if he is far and quiet,Cookie calls for him. They talk.Sometimes contact call and sometimes if Blue is too long on the cage, mad call :)
I haven't put them together in the same cage. Now Cookie is fine as it is-but Blue is young and used to lots of birds and he'll love to play...
