One of my closest friends got a lovebird a couple of months ago, and we were thinking about her maybe bringing her lovie over to my place and us having our lovies have a play-date. Would this be ok? Or do our lovies need to get to know each other before they our out in the same room together?

main thing is make sure you have enough time to make sure one or both are not sick after that just watch them so nobirdie gets hurt as far as fights go :)

Ok will do! Is their any signs that I can watch out for as far as body languge to be able to tell that the birds aren't getting along?

One thing I do when it comes to putting my birds together with someone else's, is to make sure at least six months has gone by that they've had the bird, and the same with mine......I only let my birds get together with someone who's had their birds a while so I know the birds are not sick or infected with something that can be passed onto my birds. If they have their birds for a while like that(with no new birds added) and all is well, then chances are good that they're healthy. Playdates are good though......you can test the waters and see how things go. I have regular playdates for Rudy with the neighbor's parrotlet Bob.....they seemed to like each other alot right from first sight and enjoy their visits together.:)

Things to look for besides the obvious screaming or blood, is beak battles that last more then a minute with out one or the other backing down (beak battles are normal but one bird should back down within a minute), also if one or the other bird goes for the neck a bird going for the neck is going in for the kill:)
