As I said before,Cookie is not too crazy about Blue. She don't attack him if I put him in her cage but if he gets too close to her,to her toys or food, she will show him who is the boss,by biting his foot or beaking him to head...Last night somehow they manage to eat in her cage together from the same dish.Yes,at the end she beaked him.She just must do that :)
So today,I let Cookie out of cage for the first time since we have Blue(it took me 2 hours together with my mom to catch her back to cage though) and this is waht happened; Cookie and Blue were sitting nest to each other, kissing, scratching heads, breast area,preening...you'd think they are couple.I took some pics to prove it :) So how (and why) is it that in the cage she acts one way and out she acts totally different???As I said,I don't even know if she is she but seems so,maybe that's why she is like that when he's in her cage, protecting it...But totally different pair of birds!!! Here are the pics!(unfortunatelly the ones where Cookie is scretching Blue came up foggy :( ) SO WHY IS THAT???

Lovebirds are very territorial so she is problery just trying to protect "her house!"

They look soooooooo cute together!

Cute pics! I agree it sounds like she/he is just being territorial about the cage.

My lovies are all cage territorial to some degree with my male Pele being the most territorial. Pele will spend every second of the day that he is out of his cage cuddling and loving either me or my boyfriend but if he is in his cage you better not dare stick a hand inside because he is like a completely different bird. I always wait and clean cages when the birds are preoccupied with something outside of their cage because lovie bites hurt!

To put it in perspective, yes, many birds are protective of their cages because the cages are THEIR homes. We are the same about where we live. How would you react if someone or something strange/foreign just made its way into your home???????

I'd be pretty freaked out if a giant hand came busting through my living room door!

Pip used to be cage territorial, but not so much anymore. He bit Ivy's toe nail off for landing on his cage at one time and bit my tiel's foot too through the cage bars......he always had this thing about feet through the cage bars, but now.....no more! He's become less of a biter too.
Very cute pics! they obviously like each other!

I'm constantly on toe patrol over here lol. Always watching the birds when they are out because they just can't figure out that if they land on another birds cage they WILL get bitten.

I have the tops of all my cages covered with playpens, paper towels etc... anything that will prevent a toe from being bit! I also have to put perches outside the cages so that curious lovies have a semi safe place to perch when they feel like snooping around. It works pretty good :)

That's what I did too.....keep the top of cage covered, but now Pip is mostly out of his cage all the time anyway, and Rudy doesn't go after feet on his cage, so I have no danger here now of any foot bites!
