Well, thats what it looked like at the end! :omg:

Bobble is in nesty mode again (I am not too happy) and I let them out just now. The first thing Bobble does is dive down my top and Sticky likes to hang around the collar to "sick" into her mouth...yuk

After a few minutes they had a scuffle, didnt think anything of it until I saw a red spot on my arm, looked at Sticky and there was blood dripping out of his foot! So in the panic of trying to get Bobble off me (this is not easy as she clings) to put them back in the cage to run and get some flour Sticky is bleeding all up my arm whilst still trying to get to Bobble! There is blood everywhere and Sticky is also licking the blood and shaking his head because he doesnt like the taste so its going everywhere!

I shouted out to my flatmate through a crack in the bedroom door to get some flour and a plate and managed to grab him, thank goodness as he is hard to catch and dunked the poor mite into the pile of flour knowing he would scuff his feet back and forth to get away. The blood had stopped seconds before the flour dip which I am very amazed at!

So, there I was, blood all over my arm, my white work shirt, all over Bobble's chest and a Sticky covered in flour so I gave him a blow off! There was a fair bit of flour on me too! I felt a little queasy....

Few, Sticky is absolutely fine, held his foot up very briefly, they have gone back in the cage with the sheet partly covering them to calm them down.

I hate nestiness :(

Been there, done that!!! Lovebirds are fast, especially nesty ones, and the results can get colorful in less than a heartbeat!

Glad everyone's OK! Meat tenderizer will get the blood out of your work shirt....... :omg:

Theyre now both staring at me through the gap in the sheet, at least they are calm, Sticky doesnt appear to be fazed at all bless him! Work shirt is in the wash now!

I know that this part of nestiness lasts about a week with my two, I usually have to seperate them at night as they just dont sleep! Im determined not to let her have eggs but may have to give in if she gets worse!

During flock out playtime over a month ago we had a toe biting incident when a bunch of the birds flew and landed on the cage of a nesty hen. Crystal managed to get Candy's toe in a viscious bite and wouldn't let go. That was a pretty awful mess too.

I kept cleaning it and putting neosporin on it for days trying to save her toe. After a while it looked as if all was well because the end of the toe started getting healthier and pink again and she began using it. Then yesterday I noticed that her toenail has now dropped off.

I will wait and see, but most likely the nail bed was too badly damaged and she won't grow another toenail. At least the end of her toe got better. There is still a small bit of scab on the bottom side.

When it first happened her toe turned almost black at the end and it stuck out straight. I think her toe was broken in addition to being mangled. She held her foot up for several weeks before using it again.

I didn't take any pics when it looked horrid, but here are some now. -- First a couple so you can see how pretty Candy is. :)

Then two of her poor toe. At least it doesn't affect her getting around at all.

Things can happen so fast!

Wow Linda!.....That must have been one nasty bite! ... If it weren't for your nursing her, i'd say she could have easily lost her toe. ... Good to hear Candy's finally putting both feets down!........:)

Candy is gorgeous! Luckily it was just a flesh wound, when he stopped bleeding I couldnt even see any cut?! Glad Candy is ok again, think id be very upset if Bobble did that to Sticky's toe :(

Oh, and the white shirt is going in the bin, the blood didnt come out!

Yippee!

I'm so happy to report that Candy's toenail is now starting to grow back. I was worried that the nail bed had suffered irreparable damage but that is evidently not the case. Just a bit of the nail is showing so far and I'm hoping it will come back in with no deformities. Right now the end of her toe looks so flat without the big toenail.

so glad to hear about Candy Corn's toe! I hope it continues to improve. Gill, for future reference hydrogen peroxide will completely take blood out of anything with no scrubbing. It eats the proteins. I am a nurse and date back to the days of white uniforms if it had not been for peroxide we would have had to have thrown clothes away daily! lol I am really glad that your Sticky is okay.
