Why do they like to nip at each others feet ? Are they actually hurting each other or just tasting ? This happens when I introduce a new lovie. Or when they are out playing with each other. Just wanted to know if I should worry.. there has been no blood..so its not serious..just can't figure out why they do it.
Also.. is there anything I can do about the holloring all the time ? LOL I just love my lovies ,, but there are times I could let them fly free..LOL ( Not really :very_sad: ) But I'm sure you guys know what I mean . I let them out.. I let them bath and this seems to help..but you can't always do this. Is there something else I can do to make them happy and quiet ?

Well feet are sensitive and within easy reach and not covered in feathers so easy to nip.

Do I just have quiet lovies or does the fact that I have 3 conures make me not understand the "noisy lovebird" comments? LOL My lovies are music, my conures are another matter altogether......................

nip? mine like to bite and hold it. hermes just got bit by pantalaimon earlier. that was fun. NOT! poor hermes. she was just shredding paper for her nestbox.
the hollering? man, right now joey and orion are loud as heck. everyone else is settled and ready for bed, but orion and joey are chirping as if they haven't spent the day together and are now recapping. some birds are just more vocal than others. my other lovebirds aren't as loud or chirp so constantly.

Pip nips too....he nips feet, or whatever he can reach, BUT with Pip, in the past, he has not only drawn blood by nipping feet, he's also bitten off Ivy my pionus' toe nail off when she landed on his cage with him in it! He used to be really bad! He got my female cockatiel's toe once before too and it was bleeding. With Pip though, when he bit that toe nail off, he was in a his cage and he's cage territorial, and with my cockatiel, I think he would get frustrated because he wanted to be friends with my tiels SO bad and they wanted nothing to do with him.....he hung out on their cage alot and got a foot through the cage bars! Now, this was quite a long time ago....a couple of years.....now Pip has settled down a bit and he will still nip from time to time, but never draws blood when he does it, so I give him the benefit of the doubt now and my trust that he won't bite too hard and so far so good....he's been good for some time now.....he won't bother the tiels anymore because he's got Ivy as his birdie buddy....the only one he nips at now is Ivy, and Ivy has learned to yell now when he tries to nip at her and that scares him off.....pretty smart girl she is! Oh, and he nips me too! but he's never drawn blood on a human! How old is your lovie?? because I think when they are young they are more likely to do this.....as they get older they calm down a bit....Pip did.
