With Kirby's all-clear from the vet, I've been slowly introducing him to his big sister, Kora, who has lived as a single lovebird for the past 8 years. The first few introductions were a bit rocky, but they were well supervised so no blood was shed. Kora seems mainly cautiously curious about Kirby than outright hostile (as long as he's not anywhere NEAR her cage:) ). Kirby is bold and forward and wants to get right to the business of making friends with the only other lovebird in the house. Today's short session went VERY well. I took them into my garden room (neutral territory) and Kora was a lot more tolerant of the baby than she's been in my bedroom (which I guess she sees as her "second cage"). You can tell she's still just a bit unsure of Kirby, which can be seen in her slicked down feathers, but she was almost friendly toward him and made a tentative preening attempt on his head. May be the start of a wonderful friendship, which I was hoping for her when I got her a friend, after years of contemplating it.

Give them time, and give them room. I have an 8 year old lovie, who has spent her entire life alone. I am her fourth owner, and I foster many Birds. She has not bonded with a single one, and only wants to be with me. So be patient. The fact that she preens him is a good sign.:)

Thanks for sharing Kora and Kirby's progress! ... Sounds like your managing their introduction very very well. .. Wish the best for both of them!
