Since several posters have both parrotlets and lovebirds, would you be willinging to share with us the comparision between the two as to different behaviors, sounds, verbal skills, and general environment and day to day interaction, and personality.:)

Well.....the parrotlet I have actually isn't my bird.....he belongs to the neighbor, but him and my lovebird Rudy are friends so we keep them together now and trade them back and forth.....right now they are next door! Bob is a male parrotlet, he seems pretty laid back and is fairly quiet, but he's very protective of Rudy if another bird or person comes around and he'll have these little fits where he fluffs all out and makes some funny sounds and he'll bite at Rudy when this happens. When Bob is out, he is not tame at all, but if he lands on the floor he will let me pick him up and does not bite at all. He will immitate me making kissing sounds, and sometimes will do it first....knowing I am going to do it before I do!

I love little angry parrotlet noises. They're so cute and funny. Jada makes them at the smallest things: me reaching around inside my purse or giving milo a baby carrot.

I find p'lets are more aggressive but I only have 1 parrotlet hen. I don't know how they all are. I'll write more when I'm on an actual computer and not this phone stuff

I have kept parrotlets and breed them for about 4 years now and the best way i can decribe them is like little pitbulls.
A single parrotlet can be a great companion, they will form a strong bond with the person who cares for them.
A pair of parrotlets will concentrate on each other rather then on you and will be harder to train.
They quite agressive little birds even a bonded pair will fight between themselves, i had to seperate my breeding pair sky and scooby quite often as scooby would attack sky, he nearly bit her toe of once.
Parrotlets are vocal especially the males , the males can sometimes talk, females tend to be a bit quieter.
I have celestail parrotlets but they is green rump parrotlets and spectacle parrotlets and a rare yellow faced one but these are not available in the uk.
The green rumps are slighty smaller than the celestial and only come in one colour green where celestial come in a variety of colour. spectacle parrotlets have a illuminois blue ring around there eyes a very pretty bird.

I have a single blue female i call baby sky and she is adorable, she is a really laid back parrotlet but she still bites me occasionally.

I find parrotlets inquistitive little birds who think they are big ,scooby my first parrotlet used to tackle Ollie my meyers parrot and Ollie used to back down i don't think he could believe something so small could tackle him:rofl:
they love there toys even paired ones like to have toys to play with.

I only have one lovebird and she is sweet ,she is cheekier than the parrotlets and does not bite so much, but she will bite if i put my hand in her cage she is very cage territorial, i am not sure what a pair of lovebirds is like but i can imagine two gizmo's OMG
Gizmo can talk but not all the time just when she napping.
she is comical she has never slept on a perch at night she sleeps under the paper at the bottom of her cage and does not surface untill about ten.

Parrotlets and lovebirds seem to both have they own little induvidual personallites some nastier tan others, giozmo and baby sky get on great giamo preens baby sky and she loves it but gizzy is bigger then her and her beak is alot bigger could do some damage to a little parrotlet so i keep a close eye on them. :)

Thank you so much for the replies to my question. I am a firm believer that each fid, no matter the species has its own personality, and you have confirmed that for me in your posts. Like ALL creatures of the Universe, including humans, we are like "snowflakes" and "stars" in the heavens, each with our very own blueprint and personality. I admire those who post here, because it is very evident you ALL are very wonderful and caring "parents" to your "fids", and also are very knowledgable about the care they require.
