It's hard to believe it has been 5 weeks since Tango crossed the Rainbow Bridge. My initial wish was to not replace him but it became quickly apparent that I would have to for Zulu's sake. Cabo and Kenya snub Zulu or actually attack him so i have had to stop letting them out together. The poor little guy is just so lonely and he was breaking my heart.
I contacted Wendy and a few other people to see if they had a friend available and was directed to a breeder who is getting out of fischer's. She had one blue single violet factor female that she was waiting for the right home for. She and I spoke at length and I decided that I would adopt the female. She is lovely!
Well, Haley and I went to the bird fair in ATL last weekend and I saw a breeder pair of orange faced peachies. One green series and one lutino. Their beaks were badly over grown, the lutino had one nail that was nearly a half inch long and the rest were profoundly over grown as well and poor green series was missing a part of several toes as a result of being low bird on the colony totem pole. Even with all of that they were so beautiful and I felt so terribly sorry for them that I called Wayne and sent him pictures and his heart went out to them too and he said bring them home...so I did. Because of their general condition and the location from which I adopted them they are in the most strict quarantine I have ever done and will remain so for 60 days. I have clipped their wings and done a bit of trimming but it's gonna have to be done in stages as they have never been handled and get quite frightened. I will put some pictures up of the what are going to be the absolute LAST birds for ten years!!!!! Even though I don't work and have time to be a good fid ma to multiple fids, I am finally out of room. Kenya, two of my blue crowns and now Sprite and Snik have all come from bad situations and I am glad that I can provide a happy place for them. But Georgia Mountain Pet Inn is at capacity now with 10 birds 5 dogs 3 cats 6 horses 3 turtles and a fish. I'm beginning to fear some one is gonna turn me in for hording :omg: My brother refers to my house as "the ark".................
Zulu will be happy to have a companion again when she gets out of her quarantine. Hers probably wasn't necessary as she was from a reputable breeder but as Cabo just completed antibiotics a couple of weeks ago I am doing it more for her safety than my flock's.
I will get some pictures up soon. :D
