10 of them? I thought red suffusion wasn't something that was genetically passed to offspring...?

It isn't and those are not young birds, either. In fact, the 2 in the upper left hand photo are not lovebirds at all. They are members of the Neophema family, SC Parakeets or Turquoisines (sp???)

Don't look good. Never known red suffusion to be passed on genetically, although at the international show last year there was a line of fischers labelled as "red suffusion" and it did seem to pass onto the young. Not sure where things went with them birds though, will have to find out.

I would be very nervous to bring in a bird that had red suffusion just because when Zeus was ill he had a whole bunch of little red feathers show up. Sure they look pretty, but I don't think it's worth the risk unless you have a home with no other birds.

I definitely don't want one... red is actually my least fave color. Haha. I just thought it was kind of weird that this person has TEN of them for "rehoming"...

I seem to recall someone talking about feeding their Lovebirds Spirulina and having it change their color, but don't quote me on that. When Zeus grew those red feathers they made him itchy and he would furiously bite at the area or rub his head where a feather was. I ended up pulling the feathers out because they seemed to cause him such discomfort,I'd be very interested in learning more about this condition.
