Breeder's Guarantee?

When buying a baby lovie, what type of health guarantee can I reasonably expect from the breeder? He or she will be the one and only pet in our home and will not be subject to other pet health issues.

The answer to that question depends on the breeder and how reputable they are. Some offer 14 days but will not make good on any problems should the bird die without a necropsy from an avian vet. I, personally, require that a bird returned alive for whatever reason be wearing the band I put on its leg. You'd be surprised how many people have tried to return birds to me that weren't mine to begin with!!!!

Whatever the guarantee, make sure you get it in writing and that the guarantee can be linked back to the bird you purchased by band number or description. I would also make sure the bird is seen by an avian vet within a week of purchase.

Thanks, Linda. I hope there is no problem when I finally get my new lovie and want this new relationship to be a good and long-lasting one as I had with my beloved Cookie. :)
