Hi all,
I'm hoping to get some advice on a grumpy, loud, lovebird.
I've had her about 6 years, and have tried on a few occasions to tame her but try as I might, I've never quite managed it.
She's always been very cautious, and frightened of me.
Her diet is very basic, just mixed seeds. She's never taken to any other diet.
She doesn't respond to treats.
She tenses up whenever I go near the cage.
When I'm not near the cage and she's relaxed, she'll just sit in the back corner minding her own business, no playing or anything.
She has toys but doesn't play.
If I leave the cage door open, she'll make her way out, find somewhere high up to sit and squawk.
She's very noisy, and frightened, but not really aggressive, she rarely bites me, and if she does, it's not hard and only because I've picked her up when she doesn't like it.
She's not really curious of me anymore, she knows who I am, she knows I give her food and drink, because she directly squawks at me when she's splashed all the water out of her bowl. I just can't seem to entice her to be more friendly.
