mango's DNA test came in the mail... just gotta do the testing and send it in and wait....

while i wait, lets have some fun guessing gender to see how many people are right lol

what do you guys think mango is? boy or girl?

doesnt tuck shredded stuff like munch does, but is getting an attitude and is getting nippy.

occasionally during out of cage time will let munch mount her and also mounts munch... BAD birdies! :omg:

laid back and gentler than munch. very shy...

just so you know, this is just for fun until i get the results... i know i cant tell what gender she is based on above as shes shows too many mixed signals.

here is a photo, not like you can tell, but it adds something visual to look at to see if you get a feeling that shes a certain gender :D

Based on what you've mentioned so far, and Mango's photo, i'd say he's one proud little lovebird. .. Of course, there's alot more to a lovebirds personality than meets the eye. .. Any chance she likes to sleep in every morning?

My guess is girl. I had to be the odd ball. I have no basis for my guess though. LOL

How'd the plucking or clipping go? I want to DNA test Yoshi but I'm not sure about doing it.. Any advice?

well mango is the confusing one, but boy seems to be winning.

i have yet to do it as im waiting on our cheque to come in so i can pay for it (sending cheque back with the kit). but after its sent and received it should take 2-3 business days for them to give me the results.... i cant wait


and you would think she would sleep in... up all night half the time lol no wonder she slept so much in the day. i was worried she was ill but i figured it out. i watched her last night eating and drinking and munching on her honey stick :rotfl she wakes up every few hours in the night to eat, drink, and sometimes even run in her hamster wheel... i only cover the top quarter of the cage so she has light lol but shes up when munch wakes her up (which munch is an early riser... so expect them up at 6-8 am lol)

The photo in your sig probably influences it...they look like a bonded couple in that photo!

theyre siblings, but they bicker too much (munch hangs mango off the perch by his/her head feathers!) and munch bites toes LOL so theyre caged separate for bickering reasons and possibility that theyre opposite genders.

while at the same time, they live to groom eachother, when out of cage they do EVERYTHING together. theyre inseparable but bicker too much, even in dally's flight cage which is 36"tall 30"wide 18"deep! so they do well out of cage... but poor mango gets the poor end of the deal if even temporarily sharing a cage (like when i rearrange a cage i put them together until im done)

I just get a feeling Mango is a boy from the pictures and your descriptions of his/her behaviour. But it is hard to tell with lovies!

I say boy too.....more laid back I guess is why. I've always known that both Pip and Rudy are boys and they've never been DNA'd. Both of their previous owners also thought that they were boys. They both show alot of male behavior. Rudy regurgitates on anything soft that you put in his cage, so no soft toys in his cage! Pip I see him humping all the time and doing his little male matey, clicky dance, so I'm quite sure they are both boys. That plus they are both very even tempered....they never change or get moody and you can always know what to expect from them. Pip also tries to mount Ivy.....five times his size! :rotfl I'll see him trying to put one foot on top of her, but that's as far as it gets!

LOL i went through the same with Baylee XD i'm now sure Baylee is a SHE xD LOL! why? because Chester was giving her kisses today through the bars of her cage... XD and she was trying to bite his feet instead LOL poor boy! and since he was out of the cage without Hannah, she also was trying to bite his feet while he was outside XD poor boy... so he kept making short flights to me looking for safety... and i got him to perch up and then back to his cage with Hannah... and also since Baylee have been acting like Munch XD i had suspected her as a boy once because i saw her trying to hump a perch but then i realized she was trying to hung herself up side down on the perch LOL... :rotfl
