Why do lovebirds rub their beaks on the cage bars or perches when you bring your hand or fingers near them?

One of the main reasons is to clean the beak, much like humans use napkins when they eat. They also rub their beaks to keep them in condition. One last reason is because it feels good. Many parrots love to have their beaks rubbed by human fingers. I've got a macaw that will do almost anything for a beak rub!

Sometimes I suspect my lovies do this to make a lot of noise! :rotfl
I'll have to try giving Ducky and Squeaky beak rubs - I didn't know birds could like it that much.
