lately mango will nip. hes never done it before. hes shy but lately has been getting more and more bold. ill go to give him a toy or a treat and he will make those annoyed "grunts" and bite my finger

BUT! hes not like munch. i say no firmly and he lets go very fast. he bites again and i repeat the loud no. so he is learning the word no very fast and lets go quickly unlike munch who just bites down harder.

my question is, why is he being nippy like this? hes 6 months old, molting, but still shy. but the nipping is becoming more frequent. but at least he lets go when i say no so i am working on that still.

Maybe it's because he's molting...I heard they get grumpier when they are molting.

I think my little guy is starting his first molt. I haven't found any feathers at all, not even down feathers. But he's getting these little pin like things on top of his head and they are darker peach than the rest of his face. I hope he don't get nippy!

That's good to know. What's the next things that happened?

Now I'm almost sure that's what's going on.

they just magically grew feathers that i couldnt find lol then they started randomly dropping flights and tail feathers. munch is pretty ragged right now as shes molting very heavy.

dont be surprised if yours looks like this too lol

they may sleep more during a molt and are also itchier. give them lots of vitamin A rich foods like carrots and more frequent baths. the bathing soothes itchy skin and vitamin A is good for molting as well as protein

Well, I've only had him for 2 weeks so he's been itching a lot since he's been here. LOL He gets that foot going. It's so funny looking. Yea, I know to give them protein because my little Cheeko (parakeet) started his molt right before he passed away.
