I have a lovebird which sleeps with his right leg/foot often pulled up. So he sleeps with only his left foot on the perch. Is this normal? I have also noticed that whenever he's with 2 feet on the perch, awake or sleeping, his body like to slant/lean a little to his left side. Is there something wrong with him? Besides from these behaviors, everything else is okay. He's very active, eyes clean & bright, eat & poop normally.

Thanks for those who can give me some opinions on this matter. :)

Not sure about the leaning when both feet are down, but it is very normal and common for all types of birds to sleep with one foot up. Yoshi does, Zazu doesn't. I think it's to give one foot some rest.

I think it can mean they are comfortable too. My rationale is if they only have one foot up, it means that it would take more time to flee because they have to put it down to do so and I would think that if they think they may have to flee, they definitely wouldn't hold one foot up.

I was afraid that I got a "cripple" bird which might have some problem with his muscle leg, or maybe his left thigh is a bit longer, things like that... ^^;

As far as I know and have been told/read, holding one leg up is completely normal and common in a number of different bird species. Mine both do it on a frequent basis.

Many parrots sleep on just one foot. The purpose is to conserve body heat, as they loose a lot of heat through their feet, just as humans loose heat through the head area if they don't wear hat/caps in cold winter months.

Everything is just fine. :)

Yes, I had galahs which all did that, and budgies do. One or two of my lovies do, they fluff their feathers into a skirt and draw their foot into it. I saw the other day that the 7 week old chick, Archie, was trying to as well, but he was trying to tuck his foot under his wing and it wasnt really successful
