While looking at bird classified ads, I don't buy just like to look and want :) , I came across an ad for a pair of abby's with 2 babies and an unrelated male. I just realized that this is the first ad that I have seen for abby's and got to wondering why they are not more available and what is a good general price for a pair of breeder abby's? Is there much of a difference in how you care for abby's versus the care of other lovebird breeds?

The only thing I know are abbys are not found often and are a bit expensive. Linda will know more because she has some.

Yep, Linda is the one to ask about Abby's. I think they come from Holland and I know I've never laid eyes on one in person. Very rare indeed and also very beautiful. :)

Rhonda, I know very little about Abby's but I think I've seen the same ad that you did and it's a breeder that is about 2½ hours away from me. I found the pricing for the ones this person had listed rather cheap and it brought up a red flag for me. Linda is definitely the person to talk to you about Abbys.

Yes, they are georgeous. The person who placed the ad is in MA. I'm not looking too buy any, I was just curious about them. ;) Hubby was a little shocked when I read the ad to him. "$900 would buy a whole lot of toys and millet for the birds we have now" was his reply :) .

Oh! That ad is different from the ad I was referring to. I rarely see Abbys for sale on the internet, so thought this was the same one I was in WA Yes, $900 would buy a lot of millet and toys. Someday I'll try my hand at Abbys....I'll just have to stock up on the figs, juniper berries and the funds in the meantime. ;)
