Well, a friend of mine and I were chatting today and I was telling her about Jitterbug and his current situation. She told me that she would be willing to give me her lovebird, as a friend for Jitterbug. She has all larger birds, and her lovebird is the only little one, and she wondered if he might be better in a home with other small birds. So, she said if I wanted him, I could have him. He is a seagreen peachface, semi tame, and a dna'd boy. :) He is just about the same age as Jitterbug, almost 4 years old. Hatchday is not exactly known, but she's had him since he was about six months old. What do you all think the odds are that this bird and Jitterbug could become buddies? Is it good to get a bird that is the same age as Jitterbug? If it didnt work out, my friend said she would take her bird back, no problem. So, it seems like a good opportunity to find out if Jitterbug would enjoy another lovie, but Im just not sure. What do you think I should do???:confused:

SInce they are both male then it will likely work out well. I say give it a try and see how it goes. Worst thing that could happen is you have 2 bird cages in the house. =)

I have to agree with Steph about another DNA sexed male. Just about the same age is a real plus, too! Males, in my own personal experience, tend to be happy campers together so I think this is worth trying. All of my lovebirds, tame, semi-tame and not tame have companions if they want them and all mine seem very content with the arrangement.

Go for it! :)

Ohhh, it would be awesome if Jitterbug had a buddy to share that nice new big cage with! It's always wonderful when a bird can have a feathered friend! I hope that it all works out! It's also nice when you are friends and know the owner of this lovebird......not only for you, but for her as well. I can't imagine one lone lovebird in a home with all larger birds! :omg: It's probably not the best idea as I just recently know of someone who's lovie went too close to their african grey and the grey attacked him........so sad, but the lovie is doing ok, lost an eye and has a beak injury. Them lovies, ya know? they are fearless when it comes to bigger birds......or animals! brave and bold, and always into trouble! When a lovie has a feathered buddy though, I think it occupies them and keeps them happier and less into trouble! of course, now that I think of it.......that lovie who was attacked by the grey had a lovie pal.

I agree with all above;
I'm sure that your lovie,together with a new feathered companion, will be happier than today.
keep us updated. :)
