Here is a picture of Pippen, breeder said he was about 9 or 10 months old.. does that look right? He still has some darkness on his beak.
She said he would be peach-faced but I've seen pictures of younger birds with their peachiness already showing... and Pippen just has a grey, downy head. Could he be an opalline? His wings are a darker green and he has a very bluish teal tail. I just want to know what type he is and what he might look like when he gets older! Do their colors change very much at all or do they just get brighter?
He is such a doll, eats out of mine and all my roommates' hands, steps up onto wooden perches. Hopefully soon he will be stepping up onto our hands!

Are you certain she didn't mean weeks, not months?

Pretty sure... although to be honest she didn't seem quite on top of things. She had maybe a hundred birds in cages in her garage. I was glad to get him out of there. You think he could be that young??

He's 9-10 weeks, not months.
It's a parblue peachface, so it won't have the red face, the face will be white. Hard to tell until his adult colours come in, could be turquoise, aqua or AquaTurquoise. I'd have a random guess and say AquaTurquoise (aka seagreen).

9-10 weeks is dead on. By age 12 weeks, all the dark splotch has faded and by 16 weeks, the beak is the adult horn color. Cute little one!

I am with the others 9-10wks for sure. Like personatus I am going to guess Seagreen. I look forward to seeing more pictures of this adorable little one.

Wow, he's just a lil' guy! I thought he was much older. Thanks everyone for your responses! I can't wait to see what he looks like as he gets older :)

Here is a more recent picture of Pippen! He has gotten so beautiful, and the orange band on his head was a surprise!

We love him so much, he's the best little bird. So sweet and affectionate. He LOVES our mouths, it is hilarious. He's seriously obsessed with them!
Whenever he's on one of our shoulders, he goes right for our lips to nibble on, and will even shove his head in our mouths to get at our teeth. Anyone else have their birds show this kind of behavior?
He is a constant joy, frustrating at times of course, but the little moments where he lets me stroke his face or preen his pinfeathers make it all worthwhile :)

He appears to be an Aqua (Dutch Blue) Peachfaced. Like Pips Mom said, he sure is cute!
Access to your mouth should not be allowed, as there are too many bacteria in the human mouth that can make birds sick. My macaw had the same fascination and it took a while for him to learn that my mouth is off limits to him.

Oh wow, I didn't know that, but that makes sense. Thank you Linda! I will try to get him focused elsewhere... that might prove to be difficult haha

Sometimes they can be a bit stubborn when you try to direct their attention away from your mouth! With my macaw, I closed my lips very tightly so that he couldn't get his tongue between them. His solution? The next best opening was my nose!! That wasn't acceptable, either, and I just had to play the avoidance game until the light in his brain finally turned on..... :omg: Giving something else to play with is usually a good distraction to try.
