How long do you have birds in quarintine? It has been 2 months since I got new birds and I am wondering if it is ok to move them to bird room? I got them Aug 6th.

My avian vet recommends minimum of 30 days. 60 days is better; 90 days is best. If you have not seen any problems, you can probably end quarantine.

Steph, my vet and breeder said the same thing that Linda said. Of course, that was after the initial work up done by the vet. Because I already had a bird in the house, I had the "works" done when I got Big Boi and Shy. If you had your birds vet checked and you've gone 60 days, I'd say, WOW, you've done a good job! Much better than I did! :D

I agree
Quarantine is your best defense against infection and disease in our avian friends. If you've made it 60 days and a vet has proven all testing negative, I'd go ahead and join 'em up:)
Congrats !!!

Steph,
When I brought Cappie in I had a complete avian exam, and quarantined for 30 days. I did have Cappie checked for PBFD which is what I was most concerned with and after I got those tests results back I breathed a sigh of relief.
There are just so many things that can not become apparent within the 30 days without all the tests run, and having them done cost me more of course, but in the long run I figured they could cost me Bela and Lacey, and that just wasn't a chance I was willing to take.
