Yep, the little fella was not happy when I got home. It seems that el-paso nutriberries are the cause.:omg::omg:
Before he got sick he'd alternate between el-paso and the garden veggie nutriberries as his second favorite food (first is avi-cakes). Well around the time he got sick he decided to not eat the el-paso ones anymore so I gave them a rest. I bought a new bag and tried them again last night. There were a handful of veggie berries in there so I added 5 el-paso berrries and about 8 avi-cakes (it'sa big bowl and he sometimes eats like a macaw).
When I got hom there were no avi-cakes left (not even any crumbs of avi-cakes) and then I heard nutriberries clanging on the bottom of the cage (5 times) accompanied by angry screeches.
Look at what got thrown.... and what do you know, all the el-paso nutriberries are on the floor of the cage and he's giving me the stink eye.

WELL OF COURSE! He was so relieved when they stopped showing up in his bowl and what do you do? Waste perfectly good avi-cake money on the el-pasos again! This isn't just about the sheer lack of consideration, this is about opportunity cost. Each one of those nutriberries could have been an avi-cake! Then there is the whole issue of getting that el-paso taste in your mouth when you are trying to savor the avis. so not only did you limit his avi supply, you CONTAMINATED IT.

Well I tried to be sneaky tonight. When we went to the couch to watch tv I brought an el-paso nutriberry with me and put it in my hand (he'll eat anything out of my hand) and what do you know... He spent a few minutes eating it. He ate about half of it then flew back to the cage, rang his bell grabbed an avi-cake and flew back to eat it out of my hand.:rotfl
I'm not sure who outsmarted who!
He did however eat 6 avi-cakes (and now half a nutriberry) in the 4 hours since I got home! :omg: I have no idea where he puts it all.

Yeah well, its pretty obvious who outsmarted who. .. Lets face it Dave, we may have more intellect, but without enough instinct, we tend to fall prey to certain strategic anomalies. ... Good to hear he did cut you some slack though. So how long do you figure it might take to get rid of the rest of those El-Paso's? .........:rotfl

I know the answer, I was just trying to make myself feel good.
At this rate he'll never get through them. Although it wouldn't surprise me that tomorrow he thinks thery're the greatest thing since millet.

I don't know here. ..... Maybe try keeping them outa sight for awhile? You know once you get rid of them he'll be on you in no time. .. Say, I wonder what the shelf life is on Nutiriberries?

He just likes to keep me guessing. A few weeks ago he devoured veggie nutriberries and nibbled on avi-cakes. Now it's the other way around. he's always done that. I've got some fruit ones to put in there too.
Fortunately the el-paso's are good until november so I've got awhile to sneak 'em in there.

Well after another temper tantrum today and tossing the 3 of the remaining pepper berries to the floor and one in the water dish he devoured the veggie berries (he ate all 8 of the avi-cakes I put in there last night).
I'm going to have to go back to hiding one or 2 at a time in there.

Gussie used to love nutriberries...not any more--any flavor. Even rejects the new pellet berries. She's hooked on Avicakes & hemp seeds. And fruit & pasta & grains. Forget the veggies except corn, peas, & the occasional carrot.
