Beaker often sits on his perch chattering his beak continually. It makes the same sort of noise teeth might if they chattered because you were very cold, only with a more poppy and crunchy noise. What is he doing?

Sounds like beak grinding and this is a good thing! Parrots do it when they are resting and comfortable with their surroundings. All of mine do it when they are going to sleep. :)

Yep, it's a good thing. Ditto's favorite beak grinding time is when we're on the couch watching tv, he'll snuggle up in my hand, bury his beak between my fingers and grind away!

Hehe.. it's a cute sound really.. when we are snuggling and Lucky is doing this, I will grind my teeth back at him.. I don't know if he can actually hear me.. but I hope he can and understand that I am snuggling with him as much as he is with me :)

Last night he was so content when snuggling on my shoulder that he ended up going to sleep (head twisted around, feathers fluffed up, face planted under back feathers etc).. :)

Bernadette N: Like you I was initially concerned about the same noise made by my two. Now, I'm happy to hear it.
