Hi everyone,

We are pleased to state that our Beaker is finally showing less signs of anxiety, and is no longer mortally afraid of hands (he doesn't like them, but has stopped screaming and running away from our hands). Our little chap will now do a few things on command ... he will step up (onto a hand, or his spiral), ring a bell, swing on his swing and will 'touch beaks' (tap his little beak on your nose). He also likes to play peekaboo. It is so adorable.

We are so happy! We watched a few vids in the Good Bird inc series by Barbara Heidenreich about parrot training, and changed a few little things in what we were doing. It's amazing the difference it has made. My husband trains him in the morning before work, and we both train him and play with him in the evenings. He has started getting really excited to see us when we get home, and singing and playing energetically.

Hooray!:D

Hiya, we don't have a video, but we will make one and put it up. We watched some videos and used the tips that the trainer suggested. The thing we learned the most was the watch the body language and make sure the parrot is happy, and to take time - keep their attention by reminding them they have treats, talk quietly and be animated when you praise them, let them finish eating their snack before trying to feed them again, and be very patient. I would definitely recommend buying and watching the Good Bird Inc DVDs.

These are the videos that we watched and really worked:

The ones we got were:

Parrot Behavior and Training 1
The Basics of Parrot Training: a live workshop

Bernadette N: I'm pleased that Beaker is settling in with you and your husband so well.
