My two new lovies (Maui, approx 4 months old, Leelo approx 2 1/2 months old) have been together for a very short while (just under two weeks).
They eat together fine, no hassles there. Most of the time they nap together although last night I noticed they had both roosted in different locations.
During the day though, they act like a pair of toddlers
If one plays with a toy, the other has to play with the same toy.
If one flies down to the floor, the other follows, etc etc
The thing is when they are playing with the toys though, they nip each other's feet and beak fight, is that normal? Do they do this because they are so young still?
It must hurt because whoever is getting their toes nipped, screams :omg:
I have no idea on their sexes....

I'd keep an eye on the toe nipping thing! but as far as doing this because they are young........well, Pip is 6 and still does all these things! His buddy is Ivy though, a much bigger bird, yet he still follows her and is right there to grab a toy away if she plays with it and snatch away whatever she's eating with her foot and he does nip at her too, and she does yell because of it sometimes........I don't worry so much though because her feet are pretty big and there's never been any bites or nips that have caused bleeding. I think sometimes she yells because she's trying to get him to stop, and not so much because he's hurting her. Lovies are notorious foot biters, and when it's such a tiny foot getting bitten, I'd keep a closer eye on them!

Not knowing their gender weighs in heavily. Should both happen to be hens, then as they mature, things could easily become far more serious, even deadly. In the event this happens, you may want to prepare a small travel cage. That way, if need be, you can temporarilly separate them until you find more suitable housing. .. Like Kim says, do keep an eye on their behavior, and most of all, especially if their squabbles countinue to escalate.

thanks guys

I do have a spare cage so can separate if need be. At the moment it sounds like what Kim describes her Pip does. So Lovies are like toddlers then :D
