My understanding of Oreck's Truman cell air purifier is that it has an output setting for ionizing air. In effect, the ionization of air tends to weigh down (or produce heavier) particulates, which should they contain micro bacteria or fungal spores, once breathed in, can increase the risk for infection or aspergillosis. Unless there's more research to show otherwise, I would stick to hepa filters instead. .........:2cents:

My air purifier is by Envirocare and it's got a HEPA filter. Does an excellent job and it even has a filter that does not need to be replaced, just cleaned every couple of weeks.

I have several older model Orecks (XL series) that also feature an ionizer setting, which we never use.
Since they are essentially outdated, I am assuming that they are hepa filters (truman is a more recent technology, yes?) but I will be writing to Oreck to confirm that, just to be on the safe side...
