i have a new lovebird and his name is chirpy, i have been getting him out of his cage for the last week, and he has been doing great. the only thing is its hard to get him out of his cage? any tips? also he seems to love millet but it is very messy, is there any other kind of treat they love that works well for training?

Congratulations on your new lovebird and welcome to Lovebirds Plus Community!

If he's hesitant about coming out of his cage, perhaps leave the door open and let him come out on his own. Remember, he's in a strange place and still needs to realize that he's safe, even though you know he is. Just keep working with him, and the trust will come. :)

As for treats, millet is a good option, even though it's messy, or you can try Lafebers Nutriberries or Avi-Cakes. No guarantee that he will like them but you won't know unless you try! You might also find that he likes fresh food so it's pretty much open as to what he will respond to.
