Hi. If you have more than one Lovebird, are they tame? Is it because you keep them in separate cages? In other words, can you have more than one Lovebird in the house, and they will still be tame?

Yes. You can have more than 1 lovebird in a household and they will remain tame as long as you give them attention. All my personal pets have companions, if they want them, and as long as I play with them, they have each other and they have me as their slave, too!

Thank you. I just wonder because we love our Lovebird so much. He is really the "perfect" bird. Because he is so wonderful, I would like to have another in a different mutation sometime. It's hard to believe our Sunny wouldn't remain tame, but it sure would be a bummer if he didn't. He is totally in love with my son, and with all of us, and is five years old.

The only problem that I can see that might come up is that your current lovebird may not like andother lovebird if he views it as an intruder. I would definitely look for another male so you don't find yourself with a nesty hen that is capable of producing hybrids under the right circumstances.......

He probably would see it as an intruder, since he does not like my other birds. My Parrotlet is in love with him, but he hates the Parrotlet.:D

Any bird can remain tame and bonded to you, even if it's bonded to another bird. I hate that people think a lovebird has to be the only one to have a relationship with it. Lovebirds aren't quick to see other birds in terms of species.......all are equal to them! a bird is a bird, don't matter the size either. Some may prefer another lovebird, but some don't and I've seen so many lovies make friends with rabbits, dogs, and other species of birds. My Pip is fascinated with and loves dogs! He also seems to like other birds of different species. Pip is very bonded to my pionus Ivy and also to me! Believe me, with lovebirds, there's alot of love to go around!!!

Well, Sunny is such a "people bird" that I can't imagine he won't always be that way. He doesn't want anything to do with our other birds.

Wow, that's funny.......Pip is just the opposite! Any new bird that is brought into the house, he can't stay away.........he'll be right there on the cage checking the bird out! I had to go through this for a while when I first brought home Grace my cockatiel, until the newness of it wore off! I take my sister's two quakers each year now in April when she goes away to Florida and Pip is always right on their cages when they come! Luckily one of them seems to like Pip and the other just stays away from him.

I presently have two pair of lovies at my home. they are bonded to each other and still like to come and visit usualy in pairs. now that there are only two pairs one pair will chase the others away most of the time but I still get to looking like a bee hive now and then.
