Murphy has been here 2 weeks today. He doesn't like me any better than when he arrived but he is being cute, is starting to play with his toys, and make happy little sounds. Looks like he an Gussie have no interest in becoming friends. They've pretty much been ignoring each other after some initial beak dueling through the cage bars. I moved the cages so the canary is now between the other two birds. And today Murphy ventured out for the first time...I've been leaving his door open when I'm here for about a week. And guess where he has chosen to hang out...after checking the apartment out. On the Canary Cage! And Jack Sparrow seems to like it. He always acted nervous if either Gussie or Arabella sat on top of his cage. But with Murphy, he moves closer and even did a little quiet singing to him! Murphy's body language is clearly of the "I'd like to be your friend" type. And he is as much a NON biter as Johari was a biter so I'm not too worried about Jack Sparrow's toes. As for the 'tiels, last report is that they have moved in together & Tweeters has stopped plucking, so that is clearly a love match.

Sounds like Murphy is settling in and it's interesting that he likes your canary! You never know what kind of friendships can develop and some of them can really be interesting combinations. The first time I saw a photo of a Green Wing Macaw sharing a perch with his parrotlet buddy, I about fainted!!!!!

It also sounds like the move with Arabella is a good one. I'm glad to hear that it's going well there, too.

Give Murphy more time. He's learning to trust and if he's previously abused, that can take time. It took almost 6 years for Monty, DYH, to learn that my husband had no plans to abuse him as his previous male owners had done.
