I noticed today my lovebird was plucking herself in the back then got alittle aggresive after that I noticed she couldnt balance herself well. she tried to scratch the back of her head and kept losing balance. I got concerned so I took her to the avian vet and he looked at her and said she looks healthy.. Then he noticed when she tried to scratch the back of her head she would lose balance. I noticed this happened before a year ago and it passed after a day.
He didnt know what to think of it, he said could be age or it may go away. He advised to giver her calcium drops I have a feeling the guy was clueless..

Sounds like this vet may not have had any idea what was wrong but he could have at least done a Gram Stain to check for infection. How is her appetite? How about her droppings?

Her appetite seems to be normal she is eating and drinks. Her dropping is normal whitish and green. She seems active to and alert. I'm thinking of taking to the emergency vet since the other vet is now closed.

I notice she is picking her back alot...seems like something is bothering her there but the vet already checked there too.

I would have her feathering checked for a staph infection. One of our other members had a lovebird with that problem and I seem to remember her lovie picked his feathers excessively.

Took her to ER the doctor gave her antibotic shots and fluid shot.. I was suppose to take her to see a vet today to do blood work but we are in the process of moving back to east coast on Tuesday and I don't want to stress her out.. I want to take her to her regular vet on the east coast and have them do the blood work.
Today she is doing much better with the balance and more active than yesterday. I noticed this has happened before and after a day she was back to normal so I'm not sure what causes it. This time will take no chance and take her in for blood work.
