For about five seconds! lol I have been trying to get her to sit on my finger for the last four days. Each day twice a day I have been catching her in the cage and rubbing her head and talking to her gently and offering her millet while resting her feet on my finger. Today she stayed on my finger ! I am so pleased! I am amazed she didn't bite me! She is easy to catch too, it's like she runs around a little bit then stops and just lets me get her. lolol What a sugar pie!

LOLOL I have been doing it all evening and now SugarBaby sat on my finger for all of 4 minutes! WOW! She let me rub the back of her head, she seemed to know that I was not going to hurt her. She relaxed and her little heart slowed down. I am so pleased!
It took several times of getting her and putting her on my finger, but she finally got the message and stayed there. I can't wait until it's her idea!

:rotfl That is probably true Michael!

Congrats Patricia! That is great news. :D

My 4 month old lovie is still scared of my hands. I need to work with him consistently to get him to trust me. Actually, my guy looks like your gal! Check this out:

Awwwww what a cutiepie! I've been under the weather for a while and could not do a lot, but I'm back now.....

SugarBaby is sitting a lot on my fingers now and going from one finger to another, today she actually got on my finger from the perch. I didn't have to chase her and catch her to get her to sit on my finger. That was a first! lolol I am so glad. I am having to do this several times a day and spend at least 20 minutes at a time playing with her and talking gently and touching her head and back. She likes the scritches really well. I just wish she would get used to sitting on my finger quicker. But it has only been a few weeks.
I crocheted her a bunker to sleep in and she loves it and also made her some toys from raffia and wood and basket willow reed balls. She is really loving those!
She is eating well and took her first bath in her giant water cup a few days ago. I think I am going to get her a water bottle like I have on the other cages. I have to change her water cup 3 to 5 times a day! lolol

Make sure she knows how to drink from a water bottle alot of lovebirds dont. they sell water dishes with hoods that will prevent the soup makeing and dunking.

Thank you, I will make sure she finds it and is drinking from the water bottle before I remove the water cup from her cage.
I am having such a good time with SugarBaby, she has not even tried to bite me . I hope this means she is not going to be a biter.

Sometimes putting food and water dishes on opposite sides of the cage will reduce the amount of "soup." Some of my pairs need their water changed at least twice/day!

Sounds like you are making progress in the trust relationship department. Biting can be a fear thing so this is good. Are you sure Lacey is a female?

No, I am not sure of the gender of SugarBaby at all. But Just calling her a girl because she is so sweet and pretty I guess. I guess SugarBaby can be a boy or girl name.

Alex, my Blue Front Amazon, joined my family in 1997 when she was 6 months old. She's not been DNA sexed and I assume Alex to be a male. That belief was shattered about 6 yrs later when she solicited in response to a stroke on her back...... :omg: Male BFAs are known for their aggressiveness once they are sexually mature (at least for the first several years) until they learn to somewhat deal with their hormones at breeding time. I'd been dreading that transformation and the surprise was actually a pleasant one! Alex (short now for Alexis) is just as sweet as she can be and I'm glad this worked out for the best!!!
