Pippin is 2 months old, he has just started exploring the water in his dish by dipping his beak in and flicking it around. I have a larger dish in there for him to bathe in with shallow water, but its winter here at the moment and quite cold.
The other day while it was warm, i got some tepid water and a dish and slowly dribbled the water int the dish in front of him, he seemed interested but wasnt keen to get his toesies wet.
Whats the best way to encourage a baby into the water in the cooler months?
Should i keep showing him the dribbling water? Can I try tepid or warm water and then put him in the lounge room with the fire (in his cage of course!)?
Im not sure how to go about it

Ideas?

Hmmm. .. You know, at first neither of my male lovebirds were huge bathers. Both would much rather wash off in each others water bowl, at times taking a break for a shallow dish on a nearby table. Later on, I would cup my hands under slow running water in the kitchen sink where they had eventually made it a ritual to climb in and have at it. Next, i'd just turn the faucet on and they'd be right there, so, not that i'm lazy or anything, but letting the water run on the centre sink partition ended up becoming their favorite bathing spot. Of course, next came the shower, where I was forced to stand soapless until which time they were satisfied, or thrown out, whichever came first. Also tried the misting routine, but as it went, neither were all that impressed. .. Let me add, it can take a bit of lovebird exploration before the instinct to bathe finally sinks in. About all you can really do, is offer as many opportunities as you can, then wait and see what works best. I will say though, that beak dipping and flinging water around is a very good start. ...........:)
