Hi everyone, I am sort of back, been so busy, no time for reading and writing on boards, but i have one question... Chico has been doing funny things and maybe from this description one of you could tell me if infact he is a he or a she. I have this rope toy with wooden beads hanging on the inside of chico's cage, latley chico has been hanging on it and rubbing his/her bum against it. almost constantly. my Female Blue and gold macaw has been getting down off her cage and always wanting to visit. . came home one day and she was sitting on top of chico's cage. no attacks thank goodness! Hope everyone nd thier lovies are doing good. :)

Hi,
I've read enough here to be sure of one thing....some males will show female behavior sometimes and females will show male behavior sometimes. The only way to be sure, unless you have a species that the eye shape would help, you've got to have Chico DNA'd to know the sex.

Oh, that is not good, another thing is that my macaw is also ripping up her papers on the floor, but thank goodness she has not layed yet, she sometimes does when she does this, and chico has only ripped up a few papers on her floor but not too many. i did't know about the male actng like female and Visa versa...bummer.

I have a proven female that will do the self-satisfaction thing with wadded up paper toweling. Until I saw her doing it, I always thought that this behavior was male. Apparently not..........
