My bird has a "skin" fettish

I've notice that Max tends to pick dry skin off his feet and eat it which I'm not too concerned about.

What I am worried about is, whenever he sees fingers or sits on my hand, he'll search for any form of dry skin, bite it off and I think, eat it…eww. I have to stop him all the time…he's obsessed with biting and eating skin. I'm afraid he might get sick. Is this a phase he's going through? What can I do to stop him without getting him scared of hands?

I think he's just preening you. My Bailey does this all the time. Are they large bits of dry skin?

They're not big pieces…I don't know where he even finds them but he manages to find and bite off. I'll just have to moisturize my hands more often…lol.
