Needing some help with a couple of my lovies mutations. I was told this was the place to come  I'm having a hard time deciding if this is just the heaviest pied possible or if it's possibly a cinnamon. I am not positive on pedigree so I can't count on that. I have sent a blood sample in and should know the sex of I'm guessing this hen by next Wednesday. Any and all help is so greatly appreciated.

Are the eyes dark, or are they red? I can't tell in the picture. I have a lovie that looks exactly like the one you posted, and he has red eyes. He's a Creamino. :) Also, Linda will probably be by to let you know, but if possible they like pictures posted in links outside of the Photo Gallery forum for people with slow internet connections.

I can't tell from the photos if they eyes are red/pink. Red/pink eyes would indicate Creamino (blue series since the facial mask coloring is melon rather than reddish peach). The jagged edge of the brow is means that this lovebird is a very, very heavy pied. Very little dark coloring, mostly light. If you were looking at a Creamino Pied (and there is such a thing, although I, personally, would not breed them as the beauty of pied is lost with Creamino).

This bird is not red eyed. Here's where my confusion lies:
When I bought these birds they were in a colony situation. I was told the parents were both pied. A OF pied and a Split OF pied, OK then obvioulsy this would be a very heavy pied. But, looking at a few of the siblings to this bird I am under a very strong suspicion that the mother hen was breeding with what I believe to be a PF Splitcinnamino too. I will attach a picture of him. I will also attach a picture of the sibling whom I think would be called a OF Cinnamon.

Welcome! :) This is the best lovebird resource there is on the internet, I think. Not all birds are the same, and the collection here of different experiences is great! Sorry I couldn't be of more help with your mutation question, but your birdies sure are cuuute!

Pied is co-dominant so all you need is one parent to be pied and the gene is passed. OF is recessive so if you have a visual paired with a split OF, the split OF would have to pass the gene in order for you to see it in the baby. Gene not passed means the baby is split for OF. You can see the OF split in the tail feather coloring and sometimes even the coloring of the facial mask.
Cinnamoninos are males and have red eyes. I'm thinking you have a very heavy pied baby.
