Okay, I have two peach-faced lovebirds (Gully and Fern), and there have been a lot more feathers around the cage than normal. Neither bird seems to be in distress, although one of them has a slightly ragged appearance. I'm concerned about the possibility of plucking, because one of my birds is having nightmares. How can I tell the difference, and what can I do if it is plucking?

If they are close to 4 months old, you would be looking at a molt. Same thing happens right around age 12 months. If I'm off the mark, age-wise, perhaps photos might help us see what you are seeing.

The website won't let me upload photos, and as for how old they are...I have no clue. I'm not their first owner, and the prievious owners (they got passed around my Granma's church for a while) knew less about birds than I do.
