GIRL! :D My family and I thought it--she--might be, but now we know. Birdie is a female. I guess this means I should take away its--her, my goodness--cardboard now...

Thank you to Linda, Dorothy, and many other members who helped me with the sample. I really appreciate your help. :)

Congratulations on your beautiful........lady! :) By mutation alone, there are far more Lutino hens than there are Lutino males. Only certain pairings will produce male but I've been fooled myself a couple of times. I've set up my own pairs to produce males because they can be so hard to find in the Peachfaced species.

Thank you, Linda. :) I did hear that there are a lot of female Lutinos, but I wanted to be sure.

Congratulations! And, um, if you think taking away her cardboard will prevent shredding, um...oh well, you'll find out. A lovie hen will shred ANYTHING less sturdy than...oh, say, tempered steel?

Thank you, Bubblelady. I'll try to limit it and not eliminate it, maybe?

here's a crazy story, not about shredding, but about the extent a female will go to. had a hen, she had a coconut toy, the toy broke and half was on the bottom.took the rest away but she liked the half on the bottom. she was by herself but snuck out one day.found her and put her away.did not see another loose bird, I swear! long story short didn't you just know she laid a fertile egg in that half coconut shell, raised the baby until I pulled for hand feeding. I called it my miracle baby and took that half shell away and found her a mate.to this day don't know who she mated with, had a lot of birds back then, and I never bought another coconut shell toy, lol!
