help classifying my birds

from what i can tell one looks like an opaline green and the other an olive. but it isnt always easy to tell with pictures because i may be missing some colors and also what is their age?Dorothy

The green lovebird appears to be a Green Opaline Peachie, while the other one looks like an AquaTurquoise Double Dark Factor Blue Peachie. The color is a bit off on my monitor. Is the facial mask on the green one typical reddish peach or could it be orange?

i agree on the opaline,was just looking at my van keulen lovebird chart and the second one i thought might be a mauve but it doesn't appear dark enough. i have the colored atlas of lovebirds also i could look in but if linda is sure go with that. Dorothy

linda, what state are you in? do you find people call the same color lovebird by different names according to the area they are in? just curious? Dorothy

I'm in Florida. Nomenclature is constantly changing and I find some of the new names to be actually more descriptive than the original ones. Sometimes I will write the mutation names with the new nomenclature first and the older name in brackets so we can associate one with the other.

interesting. for instance here we say seagreen or dutch blue, you say aqua or turquoise. i love trying to figure it all out. i just looked up my american yellow opaline and saw names i never heard of! well that's the challenge that goes with lovebirds. you'rd retired from breeding now correct? i would love to have seen what you bred. Acturally, Dutch Blue = Aqua. WF Blue = Turquoise. Seagreen (split for Whiteface) = AquaTurquoise. American Cinnamon = Cinnamon. Australian Cinnamon = Pallid.

I was more into it when I was breeding but I'm retired because there are too many parrots in my area that need homes and there are plenty of backyard breeders who are producing poorly bred parrots at prices that a reputable breeder cannot match. :)

yes, i know what each mean, just we call them differently here, or perhaps its me and my reliance on the charts etc. that is my weakest area, i am the least interested in

it i guess. i am the most interested in bringing up the babies and making the wonderful match with a new owner. i really love handfeeding and socializing and bringing the bird and potential owner together. perhaps that is why i am in contact with so many who have my birds, i pet sit them, groom them, and help in any way. The pair are 2 years of age and I have recently contacted the person who gave me them said they were both peach faces

And they are breeders I have one of there babies which is almost 7 months of age and I will post a picture of him

Peachfaced if the type of lovebird. There are four different type(i think). I am going to agree with Linda on their colors.

Linda I would say his face is mostly red with the orange streaks

There are 9 species of Lovebird, Peachfaced being one of those 9 and probably the most well known because you see them the most often. There are different color mutations within the Peachfaced species and yours are one of the newer mutatiions, Opaline.

hard to tell, almost looks like three i had from my last clutch which were whiteface blue opaline pied. i got that from images on google. but does the head have yellow because mine did not, but they could have colored out more, they were about three months when they went to their new home but the new owners have not said anything about any yellow. i can ask them if you go to google images and put in opaline lovebird you may be ble to bring up some pictures and compare.
