Hello,
I am a bit concerned about the sudden change of behaviour of one of my two lovebirds (they are both males). They are normally very active, jumping around in their cage and taking any opportunity for flying around in the house when we open their cage.
This morning Pedia, has been standing still for several hours, silent in the same stand of the cage, refusing to eat or to play. When I opened the cage, he stayed inside, without moving from his stand. It's a rather unusual behaviour.
What should I conclude?
Cheers

A change like that is a bird is a go to the vet ASAP. Birds hide sickness very well and anything that is so different is worry some. I wish you the best.

Luca. Given the symptoms you've described, Pedia is definitely ill. .. I agree with Steph in that you should seek vet care ASAP. .. Please keep us posted.

I agree with the prior two comments and cannot stress enough how important a vet visit is for the little guy right now.
Prayers that he's OK and that he feels better soon.

Any change in behavior that is as noticeable as this should be checked by your vet ASAP. Gotta agree with the others!
Please let us know how Pedia is!

Did you get to see a vet today? How's the little guy?

Hello,
Sorry for the late answer. But I didn't really feel like talking to anyone.
Pedia died two hours after I posted the message on the board, while I was driving to the vet.
The vet checked thoroughly Wiki, my other lovebird and didn't find any sign of illnesses. About what caused Pedia's death, he couldn't really tell for sure.
Maybe just spotting the change of behaviour a day earlier could have saved Pedia. I am not really sure what to think.
Cheers

I'm so very sorry to hear that Pedia left for Rainbow Bridge. :( My rule of thumb has been and will always be to have behavioral changes checked immediately by my vet. Sometimes it's nothing but early signs can be life savers. Establishing cause of death is hard without a necropsy and, usually, pathology. Even then, you don't always get answers.
