Need help

Along story short, my breeder just dropped my baby lovebird off at my house before I was prepared. I have the cage already, but do I take him out of the box he is in or leave it in the cage and let him com out on his own?

I would take him out of the box and place him on a perch in the cage so he can get comfortable in his new home :)

Thanks very much for your reply. I did end up taking him out of the box I held him in a face cloth for a little while to let him calm down and then I put him in his cage. He is timid but he is settling in.

How old is your new baby lovebird? It will take a bit of time for him to settle in, as he's away from everything familiar and has to experience a completely new environment. Giving him lots of non-threatening attention will help him get used to his new surroundings, as well as you. Holding him before you put him in his new cage hopefully helped him begin to realize that you mean him no harm. Parrots learn by experience. Trust is earned, not automatic. :)
