i haven't been in in a while but thought I'd pop in to let you know all is well. Gussie is still her wonderful self. And I have been making SLOW progress with Murphy. He still is "HANDS OFF" but is now able to see my hands without immediately taking flight. He loves me, which can be painful. He wants to feed me...often. If he lands on my head or shoulder I'm gonna get bitten. But he is gradually learning that if he lands on my chest he gets to stay and play kissie face to his heart's content. And recently he has been cautiously exploring the back of my finger while he is sitting on my chest. In the past he bit...not nipped but bit ...my finger if it got within 6 inches of him. But now he occasionally pushes against my fingernail or the back of my finger with his beak, if I remain motionless, for a few seconds. He then bites a little more gently and flies away. Mind you, this has taken 2 years. At this rate I don't know if we will get around to stepping up before he's a senior birdie. Time will tell. I don't think he and Gussie will ever be friends but they are peacefully coexisting and can sit calmly within a 4 or 5 inches of each other. Murphy would clearly like to be friends but Gussie really pays little attention to other birds. Never has and doubt she ever will. But at least Murphy isn't afraid of her the way Arabella was. That about sums it up from our flock ...for now. 😃
