What is the best travel cage to use that is airline approved for carry on?

What about a travel cage for short distances in car?

I, personally, use airline approved carriers when I have any of my birds in a moving vehicle with me. I was almost involved in an accident quite a few years ago and I had one of my lovebirds on the front seat of my car when another vehicle suddenly pulled out of a shopping center unexpectedly. I braked hard to avoid a collision but the carrier flew off the seat and ended up on the floor of my car with an extremely scared lovebird inside!

From that experience, I continue to use hard plastic carriers and I secure them, if I have them on a seat, with a seat belt. I add a perch but I don't have loose food or water dishes in the carrier, as they will become projectiles should an accident happen. Having the carrier behind the front seats on the floor is safer but my birds generally feel more comfortable when they can see me.

Hope this helps.

Thanks For your advice Linda.

I found this one... http://parrotdiseperch.com/west/under-seat-pet-carrier
I would have to attach a rope perch to it and clamp on food cups or bottle feeders.

Do you think this one is ok?

That one will work. Just make sure you secure all exits from the carrier so they can't accidentally come open at the wrong time. If you opt to add food or water dishes/containers, make sure they will stay in place in case of an accident or a problem.

Safety is the name of the game and I pull out all of the stops when it comes to my fids. :)
