Got the DNA back!

Yesterday I got the DNA tests for my birdies, and they are both boys :) (The vet also said they were in perfect health, yay!) That's good, so hopefully no fighting :rotfl I seriously thought Guava was the girl though, because Kiwi is the only one who feeds Guava, and Guava is less friendly, but I'm kinda glad I don't have to worry about egg laying or anything :)

This is good news! When you have same gender pairs, quite often one will assume the female part and this is probably what you are seeing. Same gender pairs can mimic true male/female pairs in every way except laying eggs (2 males) or producing fertile eggs (2 females).

If you did feather sexing, the testing is accurate. If you did blood sexing, a contaminated sample can return male while the bird is actually a hen. With blood, females are females, no room for error. :)
