My bird often exercises her wings while sitting on her perch. I've always wondered how the heck she manages to get so much seed outside of her cage and lately I've got her in the act. She goes to the bottom on the newspaper where all the seed has pilex up and flaps her wings rapidly until all of it has been blown out of her cage. Is this a common behavior. ...like housecleaning or something?

Wing flapping is done to exercise the wing muscles so her ability to fly remains strong. Housecleaning is just a side effect so she can watch her human slave clean up around her home!

Yah I know it's an exercise but I just wondered why she was doing it on the bottom of her cage always

Is there more room for her to spread her wings than in other parts of the cage? If not, could be that she just likes that spot better. Parrots can be creatures of habit and once they get used to something, they tend to repeat what they like. :)
