There is a wonderful lovebird mom I'm following on Instagram that has two beautiful lovies. She has a question about her birds wings and I thought I'd put it up on this forum to get the right answer.

Here's a link of the picture she posted of her two birds wings taken from a top view.

Her question is why is it that her male lovebirds wings are nicely overlapped while her females wings are not?

Thanks!

How the wings are held is different in each particular parrot. The only time something like this would make a difference is if she were showing her lovebirds. Overlapping wing feather tips is a point deduction but that's the only time it makes a difference. Could be that the female body is heavier so the extra flesh separates the wing tips. Males tend to be smaller and thinner, which is why the wing tips are closer together/overlapping.
