Potting soil

My bird loves to eat potting soil. Can the fertilizer hurt her?

I've found that plain topsoil that I use for my raised garden beds will work well for houseplants as well. I think I might add a layer over the potting soil so you know it's just dirt. From what I've found, even outside dirt isn't the cleanest.
