Well my baby is going through her first molt. It is just starting so a while til done. Bird room is snowing feathers as I think Baggy momma is starting a molt too.
As for the cage. If it was possible for birds to raise eyebrows they both would of done it. lol. They both flew in for 2 seconds and right back out to mama's arms. Yesterday and today was first day(since Whisper was 3 months old) I got to touch Baggy with hands and not a single nip or bite. I am keeping them in their normal cage tonight and tomarrow putting them in new cage and wheeling it out to living room. Putting them in smaller cage for bed til they are use to new one. With a cage with wheels I plan to keep them with me during day and back to bird room at supper time at night. Husband jokes i am going to get a leash for the cage..lol.

Steph, when I adopted Oliver he was in a very small white cage. Knowing nothing about "cage changing reactions", I bought a larger cage (not huge) that was black/aqua. I put him in it and that was that. When I bought his really big cage, I choose black. He took one look at that cage and freaked out! I sat his smaller cage, side by side, next to it and it took him FIVE WEEKS to accept the new cage. I left the door open and eventually he would sit on the top but it really was a very hard transition for him. Totally different experience with Big Boi and Shy and their big cage. They are young, they are together and they could care less what color or size cage they're in! They hopped right in and went from toy to toy and perch to perch. :D Even after I moved all of them to their new bird room, Oliver has refused to sleep in his big cage so I moved his smaller night cage to that room and that's where he sleeps at night. Hopefully Baggy and Whisper will adjust much faster than Oliver did! :D

I got lucky with Ditto. I got his big cage and put his toys in it and he hopped right in and enjoyed himself. No problems whatsoever. Same thing with new toys, he'll jump on them and start playing with with them before I even get a chance to hang them on the cage.

Janie that is what I plan to do. Let them fly to it themself. I am keeping their old cage also. I might let it be their sleep cage. I am going to be rearanging the bird room later today. It has 2 tables with Loveies on one table and budgies and a hamster on other. The hamster is going to daughters room(the wheel is keeping them awake. I want to get the room cleaned up as when i open door floor is white/blue.yellow with feathers..lol. But atleast I am getting molt out of way with all 4..lol.

Dave, I think Oliver's age had a lot to do with his hesitation to accept change. When I think back, it's amazing how fast he accepted our home as his own when he'd only had one family for so many years before we adopted him. I'm still hoping that he'll eventually accept his big cage for sleeping at night but I'm not counting on it! :D
Steph, I would definitely keep the smaller cage. It will come in handy if they refuse to sleep in the big cage.....and cling to the bars and have that deer caught in the headlights look like Oliver did! :lol

Well it seems if i move fast and get Baggy in first rest is easy. I put them in and wheeled them out to lviing room. They were quiet for a minute and checking things out. Then they were flying and playing all over..lol. They love the new swing. I am going to wait and see. I am probly going to put them in old cage for bed if they seem scared. Also I got rid of the loveseat in bird room so room for more cages..lol.

Well before Ditto came here he was terrified of anything new in the cage. It would take him 2 weeks before he'd go near a new toy and he'd shout at it. It surprised the heck out of Barb the first time I put a new toy in and he hopped on it right away. He's been that way ever since. He trusts me too much sometimes.

Steph,
When I got Molly his "big" cage (the one like yours), he wouldn't sleep in it and still doesn't. I'm glad I kept the smaller one cause tha's where he sleeps every night!! Daisy was the same way. I had her in a different smaller cage and that's the one she sleeps in. If they seem scared, I would let them have both cages for a while. They'll get use to them - just like kids do :lol
