This makes me very sad, as I use Drs Foster and Smith and I know others do, too. :(

That sucks. I used to get stuff there too. they were my backup to that pet place for everything but the Higgins seed since they don't carry that.
But maybe I can stock up on toys on clearance. Opie has decided that piƱata's are fun too. Good thing I bought 4 of them when Otis destroyed the last one.

I went to their website last night when I got home and there's no indication that the site is being closed, although there's lots of items on sale!! I will be placing at least 1 order from them before 2/12/19. That Pet Place is good but I can't get the El Paso Nutriberries from them and guess which flavor my parrots absolutely love!!!!
I've noticed, at least here in FL, birds and bird supplies are getting harder and harder to find. Breeders of quality birds are vanishing and millenials have no interest in breeding so choices here are back yard breeders who sell poor quality birds and I have no desire to add any of those to my own flock!!

I got el paso nutribierries from that pet place before. Although right now they only have them in the 10 oz bag. that wouldn't last long with your flock.

Sure wouldn't!!!!! My flock can go through 3# of Nutriberries in 7 days, sometimes less!! Between that and nuts, they eat better than I do!!

My guys have calmed down on nutriberries for now. They go through phases where they eat them like crazy and will go through a bowl in a day, then they'll not eat much for awhile. They like to switch up their diet.

Hopefully, this is just a name change. I went looking for Nutriberries and they were completely out of stock but the site indicated Nutriberries would be available again on 3/4/19 and the option for subscription delivery was still available. I've gotten El Paso through Amazon but they are never fresh like I got from drsfosterand smith.

Well now it's just petco. But they seem to have all the stuff my guys eat. DJ's zupreem pure fun mix, the vita seed mix that all three like, garden veggie nutriberries and avicakes. So I guess they can still be my backup supply.
Heck they have 20 pound boxes of the veggie nutriberries. :omg:

I almost have to buy Nutriberries online, as no retailers in my area carry them! Glad the site didn't go completely down so we still have another source should our current one not have what we want when we need it. My flock sure does love their Nutriberries!!! Monty, my DYH, eats them almost exclusively. I had my vet do a wellness check with him about a yr ago and Monty was overweight. His liver values were high but not in the danger/action needed zone. I will have him retested probably in June of this year.

I have to buy them online too. The only place around here that used to have them is petsmart and they stopped keeping them in store years ago. Ditto was a nutriberry bird. Those, avicakes and veggies is what he lived on. I tried giving him the vitaseed stuff the DJ and the O's eat and he ran away from it.

I, personally, am finding that birdkeeping is diminishing here in the US. Older breeders are retiring and no one seems to have an interest in picking up where those breeders left off. Technology seems to be the rage and dedication to pets just isn't there anymore. WE just simply have to do what we need to do. If that's ordering Nutriberries and other supplies online, that's what I will do!

Yep. I've had to order online for years now since nobody local carries nutriberries and avicakes anymore.
Even with shipping it's cheaper than petsmart was.

I've found the same thing. Drsfosterandsmith tended to send fresher food than Amazon so I was not looking forward to the site closing. Even locally, finding seed in bulk is not getting any easier. I buy 50# bags of just plain Tiel seed and add the extras myself. My guys will/would NOT eat fortified seed if their lives depended on it!!

I was surprised the three you sent me ate the vitaseed. Ditto wouldn't touch it. But they eat plenty of it. DJ loves the raisins. He's also discovered that if you put a raisin in the water dish they turn back into grapes. It took me awhile to figure out how half eaten grapes got into the water dish since I don't give him grapes. :rotfl

:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl Rehydrated carrots are another thing that are a show stopper the first time you see them! Mine will eat shredded carrots but in any other form, the carrots go swimming! Alex (BFA) and Geogia (MIlitary Macaw) love banana chips so I don't throw out as many as I used to. Hot peppers go to my chickens, as they love them! They add nice flavor to the eggs, too!! The whole dried corn kernels that parrot mixes contain is nothing but filler, plain filler. My parrots won't eat them, they won't germinate and even my chickens won't go near them!

Yeah, i've seen rehydrated carrot cubes although they normally eat those.
Ditto used to love hot peppers. I haven't tried them with these guys though. Ditto ate habenero's like they were candy.

So true!! Not a lesson you want to learn the hard way!! Can't even use water to clean off the pepper residue because it only makes it worse! :omg::omg:

Lovebirds are great at always keeping their slaves on their toes!! Ken, my other half, has never been around lovebirds before and he's quickly learning why I love them so very much!

Just went to the Petco site to see about Nutriberries and they are now charging full price for the 3# bags. Drs Foster and Smith was $27.95. Petco wants $34.95. Ummm, think I'll try a different site.
